A hectic weekend for the second round of the DH World Cup in Scotland. On the mythical track of Fort William, the riders faced terrible conditions throughout the weekend.
Terrible conditions for the riders during the trainings
On Saturday, qualifications were postponed to Sunday morning because of a strong wind and the impossibility to use the gondolas. A very big day for everybody on Sunday: trainings from 6:45 am, followed by the qualifications in the morning and finals in the afternoon!
No time to procrastinate. Loic Bruni took the lead, as in Lourdes, setting the fastest time in qualifications, ahead of Michael Jones and Danny Hart. Loris Vergier was looking confident with a good 17th place.
In the final, fate was against Loris. He suffered from 2 crashes and one puncture, which led him towards the end of the classification (77th) but we can expect great things from him in the future.
Loic Bruni full gas!
Loic Bruni, with the leader’s jersey on his shoulders, left the start gate as last rider. The best time was held by Greg Minaar (Santa Cruz) and a lot of riders crashed due to changing conditions, the track became increasingly tricky. Unfortunately, the same happened to Loic, who crashed on the top of the course. Any hope of victory was blown out for our rider. However, he kept up a good pace and finished his run as a cannonball, still taking 7th place. He moves to 2nd in the overall behind Aaron Gwin (Specialized).
Revenge scheduled for next week in Leogang!
