Around a remarkable team performance, Nacer Bouhanni pushed himself to the forefront of the race, winning 3 stages, and especially finishing the race with the red jersey of best sprinter. An outstanding performance for the young Frenchman who was only taking part in his 2nd Giro d’Italia.
Needless to say that the new Lapierre Aircode could not have asked for a better start!
But Nacer was not only the only one in the highlights: Alexandre Geniez, who targeted the overall classification, finished at a very good 13th place. This year’s Giro was particularly hard according to all riders. In these conditions, his performance is noteworthy. After his stage win in the Vuelta 2013, Geniez proved he is now playing in the big league.
