Huge performance achieved by Lapierre riders this weekend at the 3rd round of the Enduro World Series in Les 2 Alpes.
On the one hand, lots of expectation after Nicolas Vouilloz’s victory last week in Val d'Allos. On the other hand, the DH riders from Team LP Gravity Republic showed that they had more than one string to their bow!
The special stages were terribly technical. The riders had the whole Saturday to practice and test different lines…
The first special was the longest and most physical, with more than 1km of climbing, with a big part on the road. The podium of the WE came already out of this stage! Jerome Clementz (Cannondale) built his victory with the fastest time, 25 seconds ahead of Nico Vouilloz and 30sec ahead of Sam Blenkinsop. Loic Bruni took the 44th place but kept his motivation intact!
Then, on the 3 following special stages, it's 100% Lapierre! Nico Vouilloz won SS2, described as the most technical of the day, Loic Bruni won SS3, very short and very “DH-ish”. And Blenky won SS4… Strong impression from all the LP riders!
That was not enough for the victory, which came to Jerome Clementz, strong leader throughout the whole day. However, Nico Vouilloz and Sam Blenkinsop completed the podium, respectively 2nd and 3rd, 20 and 23 seconds behind J. Clementz. Loic Bruni, with 3 strong run came back to the 13th place.
In the Juniors, same success! Loris Vergier showed some impressive enduro skills, a big day for him as he claimed victory ahead of Martin Maes, winner of the 2 first EWS rounds. Loris took the 20th at the overall with the Elite riders, remember that it is only his first year as Junior...
In the Womens, big fight throughout the day! The four special stages were won by four different riders (Cécile Ravanel, Tracey Moseley, Emmeline Ragot and Anne-Caroline Chausson)! Emmeline, who crashed in the 1st SS, took 1st place in SS2 and took the third place at the end! Another podium for LP ... and for Emmeline!
