2 months after visiting the Lapierre offices in Dijon, Renaud Lavillenie entered into sport’s legend. On Saturday 15th February, the Frenchman joined the Pantheon of sport, beating the pole vault world record, which had stood for 21 years.
Renaud Lavillenie & Gilles Lapierre, in Lapierre headquarters in Dijon
Legendary , monumental, historical , exceptional, we are missing superlatives to describe Lavillenie’s performance. Under the eyes and on the home soil of "master" Sergei Bubka, the world record pole vault
holder since 1993, Renaud Lavillenie succeeded in beating the unbeatable! These last 3 weeks, Renaud has passed his personal best from 6m03 to 6m16 ... Unbelievable. Observers agree that he could still go higher. Renaud himself said that he does not want to stop while he’s on a roll!
MTB riding for Renaud's physical preparation!
We are not sure if his mountain bike training on his XR 729 e:i Shock gave him wings, but we know that mountain biking sessions are an important part of his physical preparation. Just a few days after the new world record time of Robert Marchand, Lapierre is proud to be once again associated with a world record "Made in France "!

We extend our congratulations to Renaud and we will continue to support him in his quest.
