The World Cup was launched this week-end in Pietermaritzburg (South Africa), with mixed results for our Lapierre International Team.
Loic Bruni already with the leader jersey!
The biggest satisfaction for sure comes from the DH, where our Junior rider Loïc Bruni took an excellent 26th place, and the 1st place in the Junior classification! Keeping the leader’s jersey on the World Cup will be part of his goals for this season. Patrick Thome, for his 1st World Cup under LP colors, finished 55th, and Sam Blenkinsop, not on top after 2 big injuries this winter, is 58th. Cam Cole is still recovering from his big crash at the Worlds in Champéry, and could not be there in South Africa but will be back for the 2nd round in Val di Sole, and we can definitely count on him after 3 World Cup podiums last season.
On the Cross-Country races, mixed feelings for our riders too. On the Elite Men race, Alexis Vuillermoz and Jean-Christophe Peraud had to make their place to get to the front of the race, since they missed some World Cups last year, they took the start from the back of the peloton. JC Péraud, starting with number 108, had a strong race and finished 39e. A top20 is clearly possible on the next rounds. Alexis Vuillermoz also fought hard and finished at the 39th place. Pierre-Geoffroy Plantet is 84th.

In the U23 race, Jordan Sarrou was looking forward to making a good performance after some promising results since the beginning of the season. Unfortunately a crash in the 1st lap and a wristed brake disc ruined his race. He still finished 23rd. Thomas Lapeyrie is 31st.
Jordan Sarrou, unlucky, finished 23rd
